Head back to South America to rid the jungles and mountains of Colombia

David's family is considering taking a 5 week extended holiday to New Zealand during the July/August 2027 school holidays. David goes with them to NZ, spends a week catching up with family, grabs some boobs and heads to Colombia for about three weeks. David either heads back to New Zealand to then fly back to England with the family, or heads straight back to England from Colombia.

For 2026, one-stop return flights from Auckland to Bogata are around £1000 - £1,200 return:

Outbound – leaves 19:10 arrives 21:35 1 stop 19 hours 25 min (via Santiago. 2 hour 25 min layover). LATAM Airlines on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday. Plan would be to stay in an airport hotel in Bogata and catch a flight the next day to Medellin. Bogata to Medellin flights are from £60, leave every 20 minutes and takes an hour.
Return - leaves 23:10 arrive 16:55 +2D 1 stop 24 hours 45 min (via Santiago, 6 hour 15 min layover). LATAM Airlines on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. Plan would be to finish bike trip in Mdellin and fly to Bogata to catch flight to NZ.

Option A: self-guided, pre-planned trip; or if we can get enough people together, include a guide (just to make drinks orders easier). Couple of interesting trips:
